According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, the Los Angeles Clippers have received permission to begin talks with Westbrook's camp and have already started the conversation.
With the Chicago Bulls also cited as a possible suitor, NBA insider Marc Stein notes that the Miami Heat and the Washington Wizards have expressed interest in acquiring Westbrook as well.
Westbrook was traded from the Lakers before the trade deadline in a three-team deal, in which the Lakers landed D'Angelo Russell,Malik Beasley, andJared Vanderbilt.
The Jazz are currently on a plan to rebuild the roster before condensing for the title, hence, buying out Westbrook's contract is seen as the only option for the franchise to move forward. However, the process hasn't been performed yet.
If the contract is bought out, Westbrook will be free to choose his next destination if he clears waivers.
Westbrook took on a new role with the Lakers this year, starting most of the games off the bench. The guard has been averaging 15.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 7.5 assists this season.
