Since you come into the arena and see supporters from 8 different teams you realize how amazing it is," Pablo Prigioni at explained in the Kiroleros podcast.
Regarding the rosters of each team that will compete in the Cup, an interesting point to take into account is that teams are able to make changes in the squad before every single game.
What does this mean? All the teams can register or dismiss players for their rosters until 2PM on the day of the game.
However, this limit will not apply to linked players who can replace any of the 12 players with the active token at the time of entering the call.
Lenovo Tenerife's head coach Txus Vidorreta criticized these Spanish Cup rules. The veteran specialist believes teams with deeper rosters receive a bigger chance in a short tournament like this.
"Our matchup against Gran Canaria is fifty-fifty, but in the others, there are clear favorites, such as the teams that have 15 players", he started.
"We all went with 12 players some time ago. Now we see that there are those who come with 15 or 16 [players]. That gives them a great advantage, especially when you can play 3 games in three or four days to win the title", he continued.
"Four of the eight teams in Badalona have more than 12 players and three of them exceeded 15. It is a beastly difference. I consider that we should all play with the same cards. I would rather prefer to have a final 12-man roster on Wednesday night", he concluded.
Real Madrid kick off against Valencia Basket this afternoon at 18.30 pm CET. FC Barcelona will face Unicaja Malaga in the other quarterfinals matchup tonight at 21.30 pm CET. Tenerife-Gran Canaria and Baskonia-Joventut will play on Friday.
