Crazy Argentinian fan interrupts Facundo Campazzo's interview / News - Basketnews.com
An Argentinian fan started kissing Facundo Campazzo while the player was giving his live post-game comments to TyC Sports.
Credit: FIBA Credit FIBAFacundo Campazzo put on a show last night, leading Argentina with a 13-point and 11-assist double-double to a crucial83-72 victory against first-place Canada in the 2023 FIBA World Cup Americas Qualifiers.
Facu, who finished the game with 18 EFF, appeared in front of TV cameras following the win.
When he started giving his post-game interview to TyC Sports, an Argentinian fan entered the media zone and interrupted Campazzo's live comments. The man began yelling and kissing Facu in a friendly manner.
Soon after, the security guard pulled the guy away from the Argentinian star. Campazzo smiled and continued his interview.
"We were looking for the win tonight. It was difficult. But we played a solid game, maybe we were a bit anxious in the first few minutes, however, we were able to control the game for the majority of the time. In the end, we knew they were going to come back, so we were prepared," Campazzo said post-game.
Argentina's win (their 9th out of their last 10 games on home soil) allowed them to maintain the status quo in Group E since the Dominican Republic and Venezuela also won on Thursday night.
The South American giant ranks fourth in Group E with 8 wins and 3 losses, the same record as Venezuela (2nd) and the Dominican Republic (3rd) have. Only three teams secure tickets to FIBA World Cup 2023.
Argentina plays its direct opponent, Dominican Republic, in a vital home game on February 26.
"We have a very important game on Sunday," Campazzo pointed out. "Everything depends on us, no one else. A win would let us come back to the World Cup, so there is no bigger motivation than that. I think we have good chances with our home crowd."
