"I am enjoying it, and I am happy to be there. It's a demanding club, and you can't get enough of being in this team and going for titles. It's something very beautiful," he pointed out via taNea.gr.
Since the course is successful, Bartzokas sees that he has a lot of work ahead of him, and not only in the current season.
"I wish I could be the Greek Ferguson," he referred to the legendary Scottish football manager, who worked at Manchester United from 1986 to 2013.
Sir Alex Ferguson is widely considered as the greatest football manager ever, winning an astonishing 38 trophies at Old Trafford. During 27 title-laden years, Ferguson conquered European tops and developed players and teams that went down in history.
Bartzokas, instead, is having his second stint with the Reds. Throughout the 2020-23 period, he has navigated Olympiacos to four titles: Greek League (2022), Greek Cup (2022, 2023), and Greek Super Cup (2022).
During his first tenure in Piraeus (2012-14), he led the Greek powerhouse to the EuroLeague title in 2013.
"I really like the basketball we play," Bartzokas evaluated the current team's form. "It is a basketball based on creation and teamwork. We do our job and put extra effort into scouting our opponents before every match. I believe that we are a difficult team for our opponents."
