"The Clippers are pretty much admitting that Paul George drove this decision," Windhorst said during the 'Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective' podcast. "From what I understand, they were internally against it at the start."
"Paul pushed for it publicly and privately, Kawhi [Leonard] supported it, and they looked more into it, and they were like 'well, you know, there are some things he can potentially help us with'," the journalist explained.
Westbrook was traded from the Lakers before the trade deadline in a three-team deal, in which the Lakers landedD'Angelo Russell,Malik Beasley, andJared Vanderbilt.
Westbrook took on a new role with the Lakers this year, starting most of the games off the bench. The guard has been averaging 15.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 7.5 assists this season.
