"I wish I would have shot it sooner, but as I turned, I saw Derrick White there so I couldn't really get it off," Embiid said. "So I had to kind of go back to my right side to try to get it off. Unfortunately, story of my life."
Embiid was stellar with 41 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks for his 14th career game with at least 40 points, 10 boards, and 5 assists.
Meanwhile, the Sixers have lost the third game vs. Celtics in the season.
"I don't care," Embiid pointed out. "It didn't count, but I guess it's a good highlight for everybody, social media, and all that stuff, but it didn't count and we lost the game. It's frustrating losing these type of games, especially when you're winning by so much and it's frustrating."
"I kind of had a feeling it wasn't going to count," Jayson Tatum, who hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds remaining, said. "But it's the NBA, right? Anything can happen."
Over the last 5 seasons, Tatum has 9 game-tying or go-ahead field goals inside the final 5 seconds of the 4th quarter and overtime, the most in the NBA during that span, per ESPN Stats & Info.
"I dream about taking those shots," Tatum emphasized. "The worst thing that can happen is you miss."
