The 64-year-old executive says his main focus would be eliminating FIBA's conflict with the ECA (Euroleague Commercial Assets), a company that runs the EuroLeague competition.
"I think I can change things in Europe," Siutat, who is set to compete with Jorge Garbajosa, said in an interview with L'Equipe.
"This conflict makes it almost impossible for the EuroLeague players to play with the national teams due to the tough schedules. This conflict [between the EuroLeague and FIBA] has lasted far too long.
"We have very high-quality international and club competitions, but we can't convert them financially. We have to get together for the calendars and show respect for the players and referees. I will put all my energy into it."
Siutat will step down from his position if he is elected as the FIBA Europe president.
