"A lot of the conversation around Nikola Jokic is this idea of eye tests and analytics. It's as if to say that the analytics that reflects how dominant Jokic is are not reflected by the eye test," Redick started off.
"It's as if to say that if you watch another player, it's clear they're more valuable, it's clear they're better. My question to people who would say that is what the f--k are you watching?" he asked.
The former NBA sharpshooter went on to explain that the main reason behind his thinking is Jokic's ability to make everyone around him better.
"When I watch Jokic, I see dominance, I see someone who makes his teammates better. Think about this for a second. We've got KCP having his most efficient season late in his career, Aaron Gordon having his most efficient season," he gave examples. "Michael Porter Jr. - a beacon of efficiency. The guy shoots open three-pointers and drives closeouts, or plays two-man action with Jokic and gets buckets off cuts."
"Jamal Murray's entire game is benefited by that two-man action with Jokic. Bruce Brown is having his most efficient season of his career," Redick explained. "What are you watching? Do you understand basketball?"
To finish off this argument, the former NBA guard said that if you want to select the MVP in a team sport, you have to look at the players who are around the superstar.
"I don't know if there's a player in the NBA right now that makes his teammates better more than Jokic. I think that's very fair to say. When we talk about value in a team sport, I think he's at the top of the list," Redick said.
"Last year, they were clearly outmatched against that Golden State team. Draymond, Looney, they guarded their ass off and made it tough on him. He averaged 31-13-6 on 57% shooting. If you're going to make it just about this dumb rings culture thing, I don't know what to tell you but that's not how we vote on MVP, it's just not," he concluded.
