Heat, Suns emerge as finalists in Bradley Beal sweepstakes
The WashingtonWizards are in serious talks with two finalists – the Miami Heatand Phoenix Suns – on a Bradley Beal trade, according to Shams Charania of TheAthletic.
Charania addsthat the Suns have emerged as a serious threat for Beal, who holdsa no-trade clause.
Beal's no-tradeclause gives him a lot of power, as he can force his way to aspecific team even if they don't have the best offer.
No-tradeclauses are incredibly rare in the modern NBA, as Beal is the onlyactive player with this kind of clause in his contract (and he'sone of just 10 players in NBA history to have one).
The last timewe saw a player use a no-trade clause to force his way to a certaindestination was when Carmelo Anthony gave the New York Knicks awish list of teams he'd be willing to waive his no-trade clause tojoin. Eventually, he agreed to waive his no-trade clause and accepta trade to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
It remains tobe seen what Miami and Phoenix are offering for Beal, but the factthat he has a no-trade clause likely means the return won't be assignificant as other recent blockbuster trades.
Beal is athree-time All-Star who averaged 23.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9rebounds and 1.6 threes this season with Washington, while shooting50.6% from the field, 36.5% from three and 84.2% from thefree-throw line.
