Years ago, the team was rumored to have an interest in hiring Ataman for the head coaching job.
"No, nothing official had happened. Just a few words with the former general manager of Olympiakos [Christos Stavropoulos] who is now in Milan," the specialist denied it on the Cosmote TV show 'Pick n' roll'. "I have enormous respect for the owners of Olympiacos, we have a good time every time we are there but I've never had an official offer from Olympiacos before. If I had it, I would have definitely reviewed it in the past."
"Olympiacos now have one of the best coaches in Europe, coach [Georgios] Bartzokas. He is amazing, he is playing the best basketball this season in the Euroleague with his team, and I hope they continue [their partnership] together for many years," Ataman said.
However, the Efes head coach did not rule out the possibility of him coming to Olympiacos.
"Later, I don't know, this is our professional life. Maybe one day he (Bartzokas) will go somewhere else, he will come to Efes and I will come to Olympiakos, who knows," Ataman said.
