The decision to leave physically-fit Prepelic at home was made by the team's head coach Alex Mumbru. Via the report, it's a disciplinary sanction that Valencia did not want to explain in public.
Mumbru's measure has been fully supported by the club's board of directors.
Juan Carlos Villena also writes that, at the moment, the only confirmed internal explanation is that removing Prepelic momentarily is a decision "seeking the best for the group" and that it cannot be assured if it's something reversible in the short term.
The Spanish journalist adds that in recent days, there has been an episode of tension with Prepelic during the training session. In Alex Mumbru's opinion, the situation required disciplinary measures.
The 30-year-old Prepelic averages 6.4 points and 2.9 assists over 20 ACB games this season, while his EuroLeague numbers mark 7.1 points and 3.1 assists in 27 matches.
The Girona-Valencia game is scheduled for Sunday at 12:30 CET.
