Alex Mumbru says leaving Klemen Prepelic out for the game against Girona was a technical decision: "You are looking for something that doesn't exist."

Valencia Basket head coach Alex Mumbru clarified the situation with Klemen Prepelic, who was forced to miss the last ACB League game amidst talks about the club's suspension.

Mumbru assured that he kept Prepelic out for the domestic match against Basquet Girona and for the team training session on Tuesday due to technical decisions, denying Juan Carlos Villena's report about alleged disciplinary measures.

"Since I have been here, I have left James Webb III, Josep Puerto, Jaime Pradilla, Xabi Lopez-Arostegui, and Klemen Prepelic without playing. These are technical decisions. I make them because I think it's the best for the team and nothing else. There is nothing behind that, it will continue to be like that until the end of the season," Mumbru explained at a press conference before the EuroLeague Round 29 game vs. Fenerbahce.

"You are looking for something that doesn't exist," the Spanish coach referred to journalists. "Klemen is a Valencia player and I decide if it's better for him to play or not play. I decide on the 12-man roster for a certain game and there is always someone who does not play.

"Klemen is an important player and maybe he was surprised [by my decision], but I have to make the decisions that are the best for us."

On Tuesday night, Prepelic denied Las Provincias' story of being suspended by Valencia, saying there was no incident with teammates or any other member of the staff.

Valencia's home game against Fenerbahce is scheduled for Thursday at 20:30 CET. Prepelic is expected to play.
