Per the team, he has made progress in his rehabilitation work and has been participating in basketball activities.
Towns was hurt midway through the third quarter in Minnesota's 142-127 loss at Washington in November. He was helped off the court and unable to put weight on his leg.
This season, Towns is averaging 20.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in 21 games with 50.5% shooting from the field.
The Wolves were 10-11 at the time of Towns' injury and have fared about as well while he has been out, going 25-23 during that span.
However, they are 19-13 since the start of 2023 and have won four of their last six games. They are No. 7 in the West and trail the Golden State Warriors (36-33) and LA Clippers (36-33) by one game for the No. 5 and 6 seeds, respectively.
After playing in all 82 games in his first three seasons in the league, the 27-year-old Towns has missed significant time to injuries and illnesses since then.
He is a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection and won Kia Rookie of the Year honors in 2016.
