As a reason, the club cites violent Lessort's behavior and the hit on Filip Petrusevduring the recent eternal derby in the ABA League.

"KK Crvena Zvezda is obliged to inform the public so that disinformation does not occur again, that on Thursday, March 16, 2023, it officially filed a criminal complaint against Mathias Lessort for violent behavior and beating of our first team player Filip Petrusev.

We will detail the next steps to inform the public because we want them to see that as a club, we are doing everything in our power to limit the influence of those, who think they can do whatever they want. Among them is a French citizen temporarily playing in Serbia," the press release reads.

On Wednesday, Petrusev provided his statements to the authorities, as the Serbian big man was invited to a police station regarding the incident with Lessort.

The Frenchman shoved Petrusev and went on to hit him in the face during the derby.

Zeljko Obradovic called his player's behavior unacceptableand apologized for it in the post-game press conference. While Lessort himselfreleased an official apologyfor the incident withFilip Petrusev, the club has announced that the playerwill be disciplinedaccording to the inner rules that were signed by all players.

Red Star called for the most serious punishment that the league rules allow.
