Due to the air controllers' strike in Greece, the team couldn't fly to the Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos.

The entire sector was on hold on Wednesday as unions protested against the government for ignoring calls by unions over safety measures after the deadly train crash on February 28th, Reuters report.

Instead, the team had to search for options to travel back to the home country. Sport24.gr notes that a connecting flight through Cairo was even considered. In the end, the club will fly to Sofia and will finish the journey travelling by bus, which is expected to take 15 hours to complete.

The process did not end without issues. Promitheas forward Dustin Hogue did not manage to board the plane due to problems with his passport and has remained in London. It is currently unclear how and when the player will return to Patras.

Promitheas had to play against AEK Athens in the Greek League on Saturday. After consideration, the match was postponed indefinitely as AEK did not agree to play on Sunday.

With 10 wins and 6 losses, Promitheas are currently 5th in Group B in EuroCup. The teams is 5th in the Greek League as well.
