Previously, the country faced financial issues before FIBA EuroBasket 2022. Now, BiH will not participate in the Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024.

HINA reports that Bosnia and Herzegovina's Basketball Federation does not have enough financial resources to delegate the national team. Besides, the federation does not believe that the best players will respond to the invitation, with Jusuf Nurkic and Dzanan Musa at the forefront.

"There are several reasons for such a decision. The first is financial. And it is not even a realistic scenario to expect that our main players will respond to us," the president of the federation -- Dalibor Milos -- said.

He also explained that the federation's leadership made the decision to skip the Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament in consultation with NT head coach Adis Beciragic.

Instead, BiH's federation plans to organize a basketball camp with an expanded roster, where young and unestablished basketball players could prove their worth, thus giving more options for the national team in the future.

Bosnia and Herzegovina finished fifth in Group K in the FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers and did not qualify for the main event.

12 teams that did not survive the Second Round of the 2023 World Cup European Qualifiers will be among the 40 eligible national sides to take part in one of the Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (Pre-OQT) to be held next year.

Meanwhile, as well as deciding who will be the world champion, the upcoming World Cup will also allocate seven Paris Olympics 2024 berths.
