With the score standing at 31:33 with just under three minutes remaining in the second quarter, the relationship between the referees and Zadar fans started deteriorating.

First, the officials asked to remove a younger fan from the stand for inappropriate chants, Antena Zadar reports. After initially refusing, he left the Dvorana Krešimir Ćosić with the assistance of security guards.

The episode angered the remaining fans, leading to protests and chants from the stands. At the same time, people started throwing stuff on the court. In a heartbreaking episode, one of the things hit their own Zadar coach Danijel Jusup.

Following the incident, the referees asked for the entire venue to be emptied. The fan removal took approximately half an hour, and the game resumed.

Zadar ended up losing the game by just a single point - 67:68. The game took 2.5 hours to complete.
