Brooklyn Nets star Ben Simmons hasn't played since February 15th when he logged in 20 minutes in a win against the Miami Heat. Since then, the squad had to battle in 15 matches without one of its main players.

With just 9 games remaining to play in the regular season, the team announced an injury update. The Nets' official statement reads:

Ben Simmons has been diagnosed with a nerve impingement in his back after a reevaluation earlier today. He will remain out of action while we determine the best long-term course of treatment.

The timeline of the player's return to the basketball court is currently unknown.

Simmons has been plagued with injuries throughout the last several seasons. He missed the entire 2021-22 season first because of a dispute with the Philadelphia 76ers, then due to lack of match readiness and back soreness.

The player averages just 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game this season compared to his career averages of 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.5 assists.

With 39 wins and 34 losses, the Nets are currently 7th in the Eastern Conference.
