Serious incidents occurred at the gym 'Tasos Papadopoulos' in Nicosia during the Cypriot Cup Final Four.

According to multiple reports from local media, the installation turned into a battlefield while the first semi-final game between Apollon Limassol and Anorthosis was being played.

The tension was high outside the stadium, as before tipoff, Apollon fans clashed with police forces, who in turn used tear gas.

However, the situation became worse during halftime, when the fans of the Limassol team tried to enter the stadium shortly after the end of the first part.

More incidents transpired between fans and the police, with the match being brought to a halt and referees requesting an evacuation of the court for the fixture to continue.

As soon as the stoppage was decided, fans leaving the stadium damaged bus stops and clashed with police, who used tear gas. At the same time, parked police cars became a target for the angry mob.

The Cypriot Basketball Federation decided the postponement of Sunday's Final Four games, including the one featuring AEK and Keravnos scheduled for 18:30 CET, in accordance with police instructions.

At halftime, Anorthosis were leading 36-34. The match will continue on Monday (14:30 CET) without fans, while the second semi-final between AEK and Keravnos will start at 18:00.

However, the final game scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, will not take place as planned. The date will be announced at a later stage.
