Embiid was unhappy about Green's recent comments regarding two-time MVP Nikola Jokic.
"He said, 'You know why I played like that tonight? You said Joker was the hardest person to guard in the league. So I took that personally,' " Green said of Embiid.
He then added a playful note, saying, "So I wanto to tell y'all Joel is the hardest person to guard."
"You just don’t want to give a steady diet and in the fourth quarter, we just tried to throw different looks at him," Green continued.
"We fired a couple of times. We sent double teams from the top of the floor, we sent double teams from the bottom of the floor.
He caught the ball at the 3-point line and we sent the double team. Coach kind of gave us the free will to just like fake some hits and then pull back and just try to keep him off balance."
The 76ers are flying this season and sit third in the Eastern Conference with a 49-24 record, having already clinched their spot in the postseason. Their form was disrupted by the Warriors on Friday, but after already clinching a playoff spot it won't do too much damage.
Joel Embiid is one of the top candidates to be named the MVP this season. This season Embiid is averaging league-high 33.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 34.7 minutes per game.
Embiid is not only a more aggressive scorer at 33.4 points per game, but he makes it almost impossible for anyone to guard him for full games because of how easily he draws fouls. Embiid is averaging 11.9 free throw attempts per game. He has made 158 mid-range shots this season. That's the third-most in the NBA.
However, the 29-year-old Cameroonian superstar says that he is no longer focused on the individual award.
"It's all about the playoffs," Embiid said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer.
"Being in the MVP race, I told you, I don't care. If I win, good. If I don't, it's whatever. That's not where my focus is. If my focus was on [the MVP], I could have run up the stats against Chicago and could have gone for a triple-double or kept the 30-point streak or whatever.
But I don’t care because you know, truth be told, we were up 30 [points]. I wasn’t needed anyways. But to be the MVP, you also have to have great stats. I just don’t care."
