The Sacramento Kings had a chance to clinch their first playoff berth since 2006 Monday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves but the team's owner wasn't there to witness it.

According to Marc J. Spears from ESPN, Kings owner Vivek Ranadive missed the match due to pneumonia.

It is currently unknown whether the businessman will attend the two remaining home games against the Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs.

The Kings ended up losing the game 115-119.

With 45 wins and 30 losses, the Kings are currently 3rd in the Western Conference. If they win their next away game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, the Kings will qualify for the playoffs.

The last time the Kings made the playoffs was in 2006. Back then the team was led by Mike Bibby, Ron Artest, and Peja Stojakovic. Contrary to the trio 17 years ago, the duo of Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox were both named All-Stars.
