With Maccabi leading 87-53 before the start of the fourth quarter, Shengelia rose from the Virtus bench and tried to confront Maccabi fans after their remarks from the stands.

Shengelia looked furious, but he was stopped by fellow team members.

Many Virtus players intervened and calmed him down. Maccabi chairman Shimon Mizrahi joined the group.

Meanwhile, Maccabi fans started shouting offensive chants toward the Georgian athlete.

The whole incident lasted for more than a minute. Shengelia then returned to the bench, while Semi Ojeleye made sure there was no more eruption of emotions.

Maccabi ended up getting a crushing victory over Virtus, 111-80. The Italian team lost its chances to participate in the EuroLeague playoffs this season.
