As ESPN television officially announced, the game averaged 2.5 million viewers which is more than what the NBA games attracted last year.
Last season, NBA matches on TNT, ESPN, and ABC were watched by an average of 1.6 million people. For example, the women's Elite Eight last weekend averaged 2.2 million spectators.
Iowa's Caitlin Clark put on a show in front of a record TV audience, scoring 41 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out 12 assists to lead her team to the Final Four.
Now, Clark's Iowa will face off against currently undefeated South Carolina, led by Aliyah Boston.
The Final Four starts at 03:00 CET on Friday night.
