"He wants the best of me, and I respect it. We come from similar paths. He came here young from Europe, he understands what I'm going through. In bad times, he's there for me, in good times, he celebrates with me," Avdija said about Porzingis in the post-game press conference. "I feel like we've established a great relationship. On his bad days, he uses me on elevating him. We're always laughing and talking."
"I feel like all of our team's chemistry is really good. Everybody is a human before being a player, which I think is the most important thing in the locker room. I feel like that's the secret to a winning team," the player explained. "Of course, we didn't manage to win a lot of games this year but it's something you need on a team. I have a great relationship with KP but everybody is really supportive."
In his third year in the NBA, Avdija's been having the best season of his overseas career, averaging 9.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. In his first full season with the Wizards, Porzinis is recording 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.
With 34 wins and 42 losses, the Wizards are currently 11th in the Eastern Conference, two games away from the 10th spot that would guarantee a place in the play-in tournament. The team has 6 games left to play.
