Per the same report, in recent weeks, the two sides had been in talks, and Maccabi believed that a deal was imminent.
The official announcement of his signing is expected soon. Baldwin had penned a two-year contract with the team last summer, but according to Eurohoops, instead of just opting in, the club offered the former NBA guard a new two-year deal (until 2026).
Baldwin, who celebrated his 27th birthday last Wednesday (March 29), has averaged 17.1 points per game, the 4th-highest in the team's 22 years in the EuroLeague (after Anthony Parker in 2005, Nikola Vujcic in 2003 and Andrew Goudelock in 2017). He is ranked second in the scoring table, 9th in assists (4.7) and seventh in PIR (17.0).
Thus, after his one-year stints with Olympiacos Piraeus, Bayern Munich and Baskonia, Maccabi Tel Aviv will be the first team where Baldwin will stay for a second season.
In recent weeks, when Maccabi went on an impressive winning streak that brings them closer to the playoffs, Baldwin became the team's main scorer.
"Maccabi's pace was absolutely unsustainable for us. I think that they have arguably the best backcourt [Brown-Baldwin] in the competition," Virtus Bologna's coach Scariolo emphasized.
"It's difficult to find the better one. This gave them a tremendous pace. Other players followed their leaders really well."
