Starting last season, it was the 58th straight win for the team in ESAKE. The club is now 1st both in the domestic league and in the EuroLeague.
After the game, Olympiacos guard Thomas Walkup was asked on ERT whether the roster is starting to look at what could happen later down the road in the EuroLeague Final Four.
"We're not close yet. We still have to keep going, we still have three or four weeks until we start that. I really stand by going it day by day, that's the only thing we can do," Walkup said. "We can't start looking at what could happen at the end of May or in June, we really have to take it day by day and not get overwhelmed with what could be."
Having the home-court advantage and the first spot in the EuroLeague standings, Olympiacos will begin the postseason in several weeks but Walkup denies that there is an opponent that would be easier to play against out of all contenders.
"It's not something that we care about or are concerned with. We'll play who we'll play, we can't change it," he said.
Walkup's contract is set to end after the 2023-24 season. However, the player has already started thinking about staying in Piraeus long-term.
"I love it here. Not only do I love Greece and the people and everything, but more importantly, I love the basketball here," the player shared. "What we have created within the club, the guys that we have here, the coaching staff that we have here, that's where it all started for me. I didn't find happiness outside of basketball, it started with the basketball here, that's why I want to stay."
With his stunning performance against Panathinaikos Athens, Walkup recently became the EuroLeague MVP of the Round.
