With this season ending, undeserved uncertainty looms over Valencia / News - Basketnews.com
After being shuffled between the EuroLeague and EuroCup, Valencia shows that they deserved to be in the EuroLeague on a consistent basis because of their well-run organization, promising infrastructure, and results on the court.

With a 14-18 record, Valencia was officially eliminated from the playoffs contention – drought that continues from the 2010-11 season.
However, this number doesn't do justice to the Spanish club. Since their last EuroLeague playoffs appearance, Valencia spent only five seasons (including this one) in the EuroLeague. On at least three occasions, Taronges were as close to the playoffs as it could get.
In the 2017-18 campaign, Valencia finished 9th with a 12-18 record. When the Covid season in 2019-20 was canceled, Valencia was in 10th place, one win behind 8th-placed Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul. The following season, Valencia racked up 19 wins, and yet it was good enough for only 9th place.
Throughout those years, Valencia was shuffled from EuroLeague and EuroCup. And one could argue that Valencia simply owns EuroCup. Valencia has the most championships (four) among every team that took part in the competition.
On top of that, since the 2010-11 season, Valencia became EuroCup champions twice and reached the semifinal at least six times. Their worst result during this span was Round of 32.
Even though it seems Valencia outgrew EuroCup as a competition, if we return to 2023, from all ongoing reports and talks, it's likely we won't see Valencia in the 2023-24 EuroLeague campaign.
Head coach Alex Mumbru was very clear about the team's ambitions for the next season.
