Even though the EuroLeague has announced the players considered for individual awards, the reliability of those lists seems questionable, while their real function is different from what people might think.

However, the organizing authority of the top club competition didn't waste any time, announcing the lists of leading candidates in mid-February. First came the players to be considered for the Best Defender Award, while the Rising Star and season MVP categories followed shortly after.
The number of players included in the three lists oscillates between six and seven (in the case of the MVP award). At first glance, virtually all the players who have stood out in their respective tasks are there.
The list for DPOY includes guards and big men all of whom have left their mark through unrelenting defense this season. Playerseligible for this season's Rising Star award must have been 21 years of age or younger on July 1, 2000.
In both cases, the winners are chosen by the 18 EuroLeague head coaches at the end of the campaign, whereas for the EuroLeague First and Second Team, the voting process is definitely wider.
