I'm excited to go to the next phase of my life," Casey said. "Time to spend more time with my family. This team is on the right track. They probably need to hear a new voice. This is my decision."
Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee, Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin, Miami Heat assistant Chris Quinn, and former Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka are among the candidates for the Pistons' opening, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Casey went 121-262 during his Pistons tenure. The 2018 NBA Coach of the Year guided the club to a 41-41 record and a playoff appearance during his debut season in the Motor City. However, Detroit failed to make it back to the playoffs in the following four years.
The Pistons registered three straight bottom-three finishes, including a league-worst 17-65 mark in 2022-23.
