Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic to play regular-season game in Mexico City

Today, the NBA and Zignia announced that theNBA Mexico City Game 2023 will feature the Atlanta Hawks andOrlando Magic playing a regular-season game at the Arena CDMX inMexico City on Thursday, Nov. 9. The matchup will mark theleague’s 32ndgame in Mexico since 1992, more than any countryoutside the U.S. and Canada.

The Magic will be playing its fourth game inMexico since 2012 and currently features 2022 No. 1 overall pickand 2022-23 NBA Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero, 2021-22 NBAAll-Rookie First Team member Franz Wagner, and 2017 No. 1 overallpick Markelle Fultz.

The Hawks, who will be playing their firstgame in Mexico, are coming off their third consecutive playoffappearance behind two-time NBA All-Star Trae Young and 2022 NBAAll-Star Dejounte Murray.

“With the Magic having been to London twice,Japan, China, Brazil and Mexico City previously, we loverepresenting the NBA and the City of Orlando when we have theopportunity to play in these Global Games," said Magic CEO AlexMartins. "We’ve had the opportunity to be in Mexico City before,and we know the passion of the fans and are really looking forwardto bringing our team back to Mexico City to play.”

“It is always a privilege to showcase ourteam, the city of Atlanta and the NBA in the Global Games," saidHawks CEO Steve Koonin. "We had an incredible time last yearstarting the season in the first NBA Abu Dhabi Games and we areexcited to connect with the fans in Mexico City and experience thewonderful culture there.”

The NBA Mexico City Game 2023 will air livein Mexico on ESPN, Star+, TUDN and NBA League Pass, the league’spremium live game subscription service available on the NBA App,reaching fans in more than 200 countries andterritorieson television, digitalmedia and social media. Inaddition to theNBA Mexico City Game 2023,the league and itspartners will conduct NBA Cares community outreach initiatives, Jr.NBA youth basketball development programming and interactiveactivities that will bring the NBA experience to fans in MexicoCity.

To conclude the week-long celebration ofbasketball in the country, the Mexico City Capitanes will host theOsceola Magic on Friday, Nov. 10 as part of the NBA G League’sShowcase Cup schedule. Additional details about the 2023-24NBA G League season will be available at a later date.

Ticketsfor the game will go on sale to Banco Azteca card holders from Aug.16-18 and to the public on Aug. 19.
