"I saw the report. I don't know who but somebody said I was going to request a trade. It was funny because I didn't know that was true. I didn't say it," Doncic told the media.
When the journalist who released the report, ESPN's Tim MacMahon, expanded on it, saying that the organization feels a similar situation might happen to what transpired with Anthony Davis in New Orleans or James Harden in Houston, Luka assured that he's staying in Dallas.
"I know what you're saying but I'm happy here, so there's nothing to worry [about]," the player said.
Concerned with keeping a Top-10 worst record in the league and maintaining the first-round pick from the Kristaps Porzingis trade with the New York Knicks, the Mavs sat their starters while Doncic played just over a quarter vs the Bulls. The NBA has started an investigation into the matter.
"He'd like to be here the whole time but we've got to earn that," Mavs owner Mark Cuban has said.
With 38 wins and 44 losses, the Mavericks finished the season in 11th place in the Western Conference even though the team was at 31-26 before the first game when Doncic and Kyrie Irving played together.
