With the NBA Regular Season over, the teams that have the best chance of landing the number one overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft are now clear. With Victor Wembanyama unanimously projected to be the top selection, three teams share the same odds of getting the opportunity to draft him first.

The Detroit Pistons finished the season with the worst overall record of 17 wins and 65 losses. The San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets both ended the year with 22 wins and 60 losses. All these three teams have the highest odds of landing the no. 1 selection in the draft lottery - 14%.

The next in line are the Charlotte Hornets who finished the season with a record of 27 wins and 55 losses. They have a 12.5% chance of improving from the fourth spot to the first. The Portland Trail Blazers (33-49, 10.5%) and the Orlando Magic (34-48, 9%) round up the Top 6.

The 7th spot was initially shared by two teams that finished the season with the same record of 35 wins and 47 losses - the Indiana Pacers and the Washington Wizards. It was later determined through a special draw that the Pacers would have the 7th-best odds at the no. 1 overall pick while the Wizards will have a slightly smaller chance at number 8.

The team that wins the toss will become 7th in lottery odds and will have a 7.5% chance to land the 1st overall pick. The other team will have a 6% chance.

The Utah Jazz (37-45, 4.5%) and the Dallas Mavericks (38-44, 3%) round up the Top 10. The four remaining teams in the lottery have been determined by the results of the play-in tournament. The four losing teams have been sorted by their winning record.

Both the Chicago Bulls and the Oklahoma City Thunder had an identical record of 40-42. After a special draw, it was determined that the Bulls would have the 11th pick in the Draft.

The Jazz own the Minnesota Timberwolves' first-round selection (16th overall).

If Mavericks' pick doesn't end up in the Top 10, it transfers to the New York Knicks. The Bulls' pick is Top-4 protected, hence, they will lose their selection to the Magic unless the franchise gets lucky and gets to select a player in the Top 4.

Odds to land the 1st overall pick in the NBA Draft lottery:

Detroit Pistons - 14 % San Antonio Spurs - 14% Houston Rockets - 14% Charlotte Hornets - 12.5% Portland Trail Blazers - 10.5% Orlando Magic - 9% Indiana Pacers - 6.8% (determined by special random drawing) Washington Wizards - 6.7% (determined by special random drawing) Utah Jazz - 4.5% Dallas Mavericks - 3% Chicago Bulls - 1.8% (determined by special random drawing) Oklahoma City Thunder - 1.7% (determined by special random drawing) Toronto Raptors - 1% New Orleans Pelicans - 0.5% Thank you for reading us!
