Panathinaikos Athens ALBA Berlin84-88 Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade Panathinaikos AthensFri18:30The signing of the 24-year-old guard remains open, as the player is bound by a contract with Peristeri until 2024, but it is up to Panathinaikos to make the final move. The buyout is not prohibitive, even though Moraitis is attracting interest from other clubs as well.
PAO vehemently denied the agreement, however -according to SDNA- both the current coaching staff and the team's (future) general manager Sani Becirovic have agreed to the move. Panathinaikos are in dire need of enhancing their Greek core of players since their captain, Giorgos Papagiannis, is on an expiring deal.
Moraitis has averaged 6.8 points, 2.5 assists and 2.3 rebounds with Peristeri across BCL and Greek league games, being a personal choice of coach Vassilis Spanoulis.
He signed his first pro contract with Panionios in 2014. In 2015 he moved to AEK where he made his Greek League debut. With AEK, he won the Greek Cup title, in 2018, and the FIBA Champions League title as well.
In August 2019, the Greek guard was loaned to Kolossos Rhodes for the 2019-2020 season. Two years later, Moraitis signed a two-year deal with Peristeri.
During the 2021-22 campaign, in a total of 21 Greek league games, he averaged 9.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals, playing around 23 minutes per contest.
