With a poor record in the Western Conference, the franchise is planning on changing its head coach for the new season.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Golden State Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson is the frontrunner for the head coaching position with the Houston Rockets.
The Rockets received permission from the Golden State Warriors to meet with Atkinson, who previously served as head coach of the Nets from 2016-2020. He has been an assistant coach for the Warriors since 2021.
Atkinson, 55, compiled a 118-190 record from 2016-20 with just one playoff appearance. He appeared set to become the Charlotte Hornets' head coach last June before opting to remain with Golden State. He is in his second season on Warriors coach Steve Kerr's staff.
