According to BasketNews sources, Poythress will try to get into a game rhythm until the EuroLeague playoffs. Maccabi are expected to give him playing time in the domestic league to prepare the player for a potential EuroLeague postseason appearance.
The 29-year-old player underwent surgery for a torn wrist ligament in early December and did not play since EuroLeague Round 11. Prior to the surgery, Poythress played through an injury for more than a month.
Maccabi are scheduled to start their best-of-five EuroLeague series vs. AS Monaco on April 25. Before this day, the Yellows will play two Israeli league matches on April 18 and April 20.
Poythress averaged 8.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 26 minutes of EuroLeague action this season.
He joined Maccabi on a two-year deal last offseason.
