With just under 6 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Morant drove to the basket and tried to jump over Anthony Davis in an attempt to make a shot. The Grizzlies guard was charged with an offensive foul but remained lying on the floor immediately after the episode.
After flying multiple feet in the air, Morant tried to brace his landing with his hands but snapped his right wrist in the process. The star guard later sprinted to the locker room and did not return.
The X-rays came back negative, head coach Taylorr Jenkins said after the match.
"I'm in a good bit of pain," Morant said after the loss. "It's tough, especially with everything I've been through pretty much this season. My main focus was to be out there for my guys. Another incident where that's pretty much in jeopardy."
"I'll do anything to be out there for my team. It's pretty much, you know, how much I can tolerate. I feel like I can go out there and be somewhat myself," he continued. "I'll probably play but I don't want to do anything to hurt my team."
Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Wednesday night.
