Warriors Gaming Squad wins 2023 NBA 2K League 5v5 Championship
Warriors Gaming Squad (WGS), the NBA 2K League affiliate team ofthe Golden State Warriors, won the franchise’s first NBA 2K LeagueChampionship following tonight’s 3-1 series win against NBL OzGaming.
With tonight’s win, the Warriors have become the first franchiseto win championships in the NBA (1947, 1956, 1975, 2015, 2017,2018, 2022), NBA G League (2015) and NBA 2K League (2023).
Nidal “Mama Im Dat Man” Nasser wasnamed NBA 2K League Finals MVP after averaging 22.7 points, 6.5assists and 1.5 steals per game in today’s series matchup.
Jeremy “Seese” Seese became the firstNBA 2K League player to win back-to-back championships with twodifferent teams after averaging 7.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7steals per game against NBL Oz Gaming. Charlie “CB13” Bostwickaveraged 20 points and 6 assists, Jaden “Nay” Bhopal averaged 11.2points and 10.2 rebounds, and Kenneth “Kenny Got Work” Haileyaveraged 12.5 points and 2.2 steals per game in today’schampionship matchup.
Led by third-year head coach MikeNewton, Warriors Gaming Squad finished the 2023 NBA 2K Leagueseason with a regular-season record of 14-4 in 5v5 play and 59-51in second-year 3v3 play. En route to the title, WGS defeatedPistons GT 2-0 in the quarterfinals and claimed a 2-0 victory overBucks Gaming in the Western Conference Finals of the playoffs.
Warriors Gaming Squad has made theplayoffs every year since 2019, including three consecutive finalfours. They are one of 25 teams in the NBA 2K League and one of 22teams owned by NBA franchises.
The NBA 2K League, which features thebest NBA 2K players in the world, was launched in 2018. Ratings forthe NBA 2K League continue to increase each year, as BasketballNews recently reported.
