FIBA Europe Executive Committee sent an official letter to the Ukrainian Basketball Federation to report on the unanimous decision.
Earlier, FIBA decided to not allow the registration of the Russian national team for Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournaments, making it impossible for the country to play in the Paris Olympics.
Full letter regarding FIBA EuroBasket 2025:
"With this letter, we would like to inform you that the Executive Committee of FIBA Europe unanimously decided to not allow the registration of the Belarusian and Russian men's national team in the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Pre-Qualifiers, with the Third Round scheduled to be played in July-August 2023.
Following the recommendation issued by the International Olympic Committee ("Teams of athletes with a Russian and Belarusian passport cannot be considered"), the FIBA Executive Committee had decided last week to not allow the registration of the Russian men's national team in the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournaments 2023 (FIBA Pre-OQTS).
At the same time, the FIBA Executive Committee invited FIBA Europe to adopt the required protective measures concerning the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Pre-Qualifiers."
FIBA EuroBasket 2025 will be the 42nd edition of the tournament, which will be co-hosted by four countries: Latvia, Cyprus, Finland, and Poland.
