After a dominant end of the EuroLeague's regular season with Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, star guard Facundo Campazzo will be the top commodity in European basketball this upcoming summer.

Although the Argentinian guard has a contract with the Serbian club for the next season, the buyout in the deal is minuscule compared to the contract the player would get. Having this in mind, a new team has entered the race for Campazzo's signature.

According to Georgios Kouvaris from Gazzetta.gr, Panathinaikos Athens are highly interested in acquiring the guard. The organization offered a 3-year deal several days, and Campazzo would earn €2.5 million per season, Kouvaris writes.

The journalist notes that the player didn't rush to answer and wanted to weigh his options. Despite the report in Spain, Campazzo hasn't reached a deal with Real Madrid, as confirmed by SDNA.

The Greek club recently signed Ergin Ataman to be its next head coach. The Turkish specialist views Campazzo as the cornerstone of the franchise for upcoming years, Kouvaris notes.

Both outlets note that Real Madrid's offer would be smaller in yearly value than PAO's. Campazzo and Real Madrid negotiated the possible deal but didn't agree on evaluation, and the Argentinian chose Crvena Zvezda's deal this season.

Campazzo still owes the Spanish club €2.6 million from the NBA buyout the organization imposed when he went to the other side of the Atlantic. Kouvaris notes that the current Panathinaikos offer would cover the difference and help settle the debt throughout the 3-year commitment with Panathinaikos.

Kouvaris notes that even the local Argentinians who live in Greece have also been recruited in order to convince Campazzo to sign with Panathinaikos.

Crvena Zvezda have recently denied the Spanish report, stating that there is no deal and Campazzo's stance remains identical to the one he expressed after the game against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul.
