Looking ahead at the competition, the coach shared his predictions.
"I honestly believe that all four teams have a 25-percent chance each. It's not clever what I just said but it really seems that way to me," he told Nikola Stojkovic from Mozzart Sport. "We've played against all four teams, we played against Turk Telekom in the Turkish league of course, but we know the qualities of all the participants in the semi-finals and it's really difficult to say who could make it to the end."
"For Joventut and Prometey, the biggest problem is that they lack [Pau] Ribas and [DJ] Kennedy [respectively], while [Caleb] Agada has just returned to the Ukrainians. Whichever team is healthier, that team will be much closer to reaching the trophy," Alimpijevic explained. "Gran Canaria is currently injury-free."
Even though he initially didn't want to give straight predictions, the Serbian coach later shared a bit of his thinking.
"It seems to me that the Spanish clubs have never been more ready to win the Eurocup and have another representative alongside the [three] biggest [clubs]. Turk Telekom plays very good basketball and can disrupt their plans," Alimpijevic said.
The Bursa coach wanted to highlight one thing on the Turk Telekom Ankara squad - local players.
"We should highlight the local players who did not have special roles on their previous teams but who coach [Erdem] Can got the most out of. With three domestic players providing support, they have a rotation of eight to nine players on which Turk Telekom base their game. They all have precisely defined roles and have been doing a good job all season," Alimpijevic told. "Everyone expects them to fail but as you can see, they are first in the Turkish League and in the semi-finals of the Eurocup."
