Laso and Xavi Pascual were frontrunners to lead the Anadolu Efes Istanbul bench, via Eurohoops.
However, the negotiations between Laso and the Turkish team broke down today, per Ismail Senol of beIN SPORTS.
The 55-year-old Laso left his Real Madrid head coaching role to assistant Chus Mateo due to health problems as a result of a heart attack last June. Madrid decided to continue with Mateo after Laso recovered.
Since his departure from the Spanish capital, the winner of 22 titles in 11 seasons with the Royal club, Laso has always received questions about his health condition after suffering a myocardial infarction.
"I'm fine," Laso recently told Jesus Sanchez of MARCA. "A cardiologist told me that I should have coached in the ACB League final last year and that I didn't have to change my life.
"I'm not having a bad time being at home. And I'm not disconnected from basketball either."
