Anthony Edwards has been cited for third-degree assault after allegedly hitting two women with a folding chair and injuring them. Timberwolves have issued a statement about the incident, saying that they are aware of the alleged incident and are gathering more information.

According to Denver Sports, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been cited for third-degree assault for allegedly striking two women with a folding chair after he missed the final shot on Tuesday night and suffered a 1-4 series loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Per Colorado law, third-degree assault carries the punishment of up to 18 months in Jail and/or a fine of up to $1,000.

Denver Police Department's Jay Casillas told Denver Sports on Wednesday that Edwards swung a folding chair and struck two women who were working at the time. Police say both women were injured, neither seriously.

Denver Police reportedly held the Timberwolves bus up following the game to cite Edwards, according to a source on the scene.

T-Wolves issued a statement about the incident.

"We are aware of the alleged incident regarding Anthony Edwards following Game 5 in Denver and are in the process of gathering more information. We have no further comment at this moment."

During the 4-1 series win of the Nuggets over the Timberwolves, Edwards averaged 31.6 points per game.
