Although the regular season was pretty successful, his Cleveland Cavaliers were eliminated in 1st Round of the NBA Playoffs by the New York Knicks.
Rubio played only in three of the five games, spending a total of just 17 minutes on the floor, managing to attempt only a single shot that he missed.
In his end-of-season interview, the Spanish guard was sad to end the season in this way. When he was asked about possibly playing in the Spanish national team in the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup, Rubio wasn't entirely sure but admitted that it would help him in his recovery.
"The season just finished yesterday so I want to take my time. I think it would help my rhythm but I'm going to meet with my personal team and see what's best for me in rehab. I think I have to get more strength in my lower body and see what's best for me," he said. "Of course, I always want to compete, the World Cup is something special as well but I will take my time."
Rubiotore his ACL last year which not only sidelined him for the remainder of the season but also forced him to miss EuroBasket 2022 where Spain won the gold medal.
