According to the official EuroLeague regulations, there are two types of infringements: serious and minor.
Serious infringements include physical aggression, causing a game to be suspended, threatening or discriminatory behavior, and any conduct that leads to or encourages violence.
This means that players who were involved in the fight might face fines ranging from 30,001 euros to 280,000 euros,be prohibited from participating in EuroLeague games for one to four years, be disqualified from the competition temporarily for one to four years or for three or more games, or even be permanently disqualified from EuroLeague competitions.
Minor infringements include things like causing an abnormal interruption of a game, insulting or disrespecting others, failing to follow instructions from the officiating crew, and using violent means during play that endanger other players.
If a player commits a minor infringement, they could be given a warning, a fine of up to 30,000 euros, be prohibited from participating in EuroLeague games for up to one year, or be disqualified from the competition temporarily for up to one year or for up to five games.
It is yet to be determined what precise penalties the players involved in the Real vs. Partizan brawl will face, as a result of which 21 players were disqualified.
As it was stated in the official report,Euroleague has referred the reported facts to the Independent Disciplinary Judge who will decide on the on-court incidents within 24 hours.
The most recent significant brawl in EuroLeague happened in 2013 during a match between Olympiacos and Galatasaray in Piraeus. The players involved were given a combined suspension of 10 games.
Mirza Begic has received a punishment of a four-game disqualification along with a fine of €15,000. Georgios Printezis and Pops Mensah-Bonsu have been disqualified for three games each and fined €10,001.
In addition, Olympiacos had to play their next game without fans and pay a total fine of €39,011.
