With the guests up by 15 and 1'40'' remaining, Llull made a violent foul to Kevin Punter, who reacted and went straight into the Spanish guard clinching his fist and threatening to punch him.
Several players from both teams engaged and the biggest fight in EuroLeague history emerged. Some hours after the incident, Lull took responsibility via his social media account, trying to defuse the atmosphere.
"What happened last night should never happen on a basketball court. I take responsibility for making that harsh foul that triggered the subsequent disaster. My apologies to all basketball fans".
Here's a breakdown of what happened in Madrid during Game 2:
After Sergio Llull's flagrant foul on Kevin Punter, the American guard immediately reacted, bumping into Llull, but no punches are thrown.
Guerschon Yabusele came first at Punter and Llull. Dante Exum joined them seconds later in an attempt to protect Punter/separate everyone. Gabriel Deck jumps onto Exum's back and wrapped his arms around the Australian, who responded to Deck by punching into his stomach.
Yabusele grabbed Exum from the back and bodyslammed him onto the court. Dzanan Musa tried to confront Punter, but before he did something, the Partizan guard slapped him in the face/head area.
Mathias Lessort arrived from halfcourt and shoved Musa onto the ground. Individual fights came to an end, with one final massive brawl occurring between both team players until the whole situation finally got de-escalated.
Now, the EuroLeague Judge will issue the sanctions on all parties involved. Partizan lead the series 2-0 and need one more to make the Final Four, but it's still unclear how games will proceed and how many players will be available from both sides.
