The 53-year-old Budenholzer has not disclosed which of his three brothers passed away or the details surrounding the accident.

The tragic event occurred just prior to Game 4 of the Bucks-Heat series.

While Budenholzer confirmed the news through a team spokesperson, Darvin Ham, who worked as an assistant under Budenholzer in both Atlanta and Milwaukee, addressed the accident before the Lakers' game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

"Coach Bud is going through a lot on a personal level," Ham said, via The Athletic. "He just lost his brother, so my apologies Bud if I wasn't supposed to let anybody know. He and I've been texting. I love those guys."

Budenholzer was fine with Ham acknowledging the incident.
