Another one comes on Wednesday night when the Lithuanian powerhouse meets FC Barcelona at the packed Zalgirio Arena.
According to Zalgiris GM Paulius Motiejunas, one game in the EuroLeague playoffs generates a seven-figure sum for the club.
"We will definitely earn more than a million euros for a game," Motiejunas told BasketNews. "It varies between €1.3 and €1.5 million. It's still the playoffs, it's not just the earnings, but the expenses are going to be much higher because you're doing a show. It doesn't happen every year."
Before the season, Zalgiris planned €4.0 million in revenue from tickets.
"We exceeded that," Motiejunas underlined. "I will tell you the exact numbers after everything. We did not expect this kind of support, and we are pleasantly surprised. Fans make a strong contribution to financial sustainability and the increasing budget."
Motiejunas also emphasized that the 2022-23 season is going to obliterate all the financial difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Zalgiris is expected to finish the current campaign with a positive balance line.
"We never count the playoffs when we do pre-season financial presentations. We remember the coronavirus period and the fact that we took a loan. This season allows us to return to life without loans and rely on income and expenses."
Electric Game 3 in Kaunas starts at 19:00 CEST on Wednesday. Zalgiris need to get a win to avoid the sweep, as Barca leads the series 2-0.
