However, there is one thing Wemby has improved that isn't shown on the stat sheet, his coach at Metropolitans 92, Vincent Collet, tells.
"Victor is mature for his age, he's focused on his goals. We've tried to improve the entire year, it's valid both for the team and for him. Recently, Victor has shown real progress in being part of the entire team," Collet said before the LNB game against Bourg-en-Bresse. "It's not necessarily visible in terms of statistics but he's much more related to his teammates."
Collet is also the head coach of the French national team where Wembanyama played twice during the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers windows this season.
In a recent interview, the wunderkind admitted that he initially felt a bit of regret after leaving LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne and subsequently the EuroLeague last season but refocused sometime later.
"In hindsight, there was no reason to [feel regret], I actually don't," Wembanyama explained. "Of course, as a competitor, I would've liked to taste the European competition a bit more but I made the choice and it was the best choice."
