Kristaps Porzingis is one of the biggest names set to jump into Free Agency. The Washington Wizards player is on an expiring contract when the NBA summer transfer market opens, and the biggest question was whether he was going to make his 'player option' effective for the 2023/24 season.
Kristaps Porzingis

Porzingis has a $36 million player option. However, Bleacher Report journalist Eric Pincus has reported that the Latvian is not going to make use of it and plans to jump to Free Agency with the aim of negotiating a new multi-year contract with the Wizards instead.
Having completed a season of 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in 65 regular season games, Porzingis isn't going to have much of a problem negotiating a new contract with Washington.
Considering his long history with injuries, cashing in on his player option and getting injured next season could see the Latvian player lose a lot of money. By opting out, he can earn a multi-year deal ranging from four to five years, and worth between $ 134 million and $ 174 million.
The Washington Wizards plan is to renew their two current stars since Kyle Kuzma is practically in the same situation as Porzingis. However, in Kuzma's case, the player will decline his $13 million player option to get much more money per season than his teammate. Kuzma averaged 21.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
