Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv's squad for next season is taking shape. After the extension of the contracts of Lorenzo Brown, Wade Baldwin and Roman Sorkin, the agreements with John DiBartolomeo and Bonzie Colson, and the first addition that's expected to be Braian Angola, the Israeli powerhouse are nearing their first Israeli acquisition.

According to Arel Ginsber of Walla Sport, Tamir Blatt is in advanced talks with the club and the two sides are closing in on a deal. In the current season, his second in the EuroLeague, the international point guard averaged 7.8 points and 4.6 assists in 19:51 minutes per game with ALBA Berlin, while going 35.7% from distance and 89.5% from the free-throw line.
From the beginning, Maccabi marked Blatt as a leading candidate, after last summer they had no possibility of landing him due to his contract with ALBA. Now that he is no longer committed to the German team, he is very close to joining forces with Oded Kattash, who successfully coached him at Hapoel Jerusalem and the Israeli national team.
The possible arrival of Blatt, whose father David is the chairman of the professional committee at the club, will greatly deepen Maccabi's backcourt. Along with Brown, Baldwin and DiBartolomeo who will continue, and Angola who will join, the 26-year-old guard will be the last piece to the team's perimeter lineup.
